Mary Frances Attías
Mary Frances Attías Antún is a Dominican visual artist of Lebanese descent. Faithful to her love for the arts, her practice moves fluidly between literature, writing, drawing, photography, and painting. She has pursued independent training through courses and workshops with renowned artists and professors at both local and international levels. Restless in spirit, she made her debut in cinema with her short film A Leap into the Void, which addresses the issue of gender-based violence.
She holds a degree in Systems Engineering and has postgraduate studies in Foreign Trade, International Economics, and a master’s degree in human resources. In 2021, she completed the master’s degree in photography: Theories and Artistic Projects at PhotoEspaña. She has also taken part in workshops and seminars on screenwriting, film production, technical editing studies, lighting and digital processing, visual narrative development, photographic criticism, and curatorship with distinguished professionals in each field.
She has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Europe, the United States, Central and South America, and the Dominican Republic, where she lives, both in physical and virtual formats. Her work has been reviewed by major media outlets in her country and abroad. Her project Fugaces, first exhibited in Madrid in 2021, was also selected for exhibition at the International Foto Arica Festival in Chile that same year. Among her recognitions is an Honorable Mention in the Social Media category from Andares de la Ciudad Colonial, a program dedicated to developing the artistic and urban heritage of the historic center of Santo Domingo. Her work has been selected multiple times for the National Biennial of Visual Arts and the Biennial of the Image in her country of origin.
